Krabi Thailand - Getting to Koh Pu

We have been back from Thailand for little over a week!  We had a wonderful time and learned a couple of things about our traveling style in the process.  Before we left for China, last year,  my dear friend Karl gave me this quote from Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck:  A journey is a person itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. (p4)

This quote is so true.  We find that every trip we learn something new.  In trips past we have learned that you ALWAYS arrive in the daylight (Loire Valley, France), ALWAYS bring a credit card other than Amex (Chengdu, China), check the map myself (after a 25mile bike ride 7 1/2 months pregnant in Belgium), NEVER go in to the back country without enough bug repellent (Yellowstone national park) and beach vacations are always the better way to go with kids (years of vacationing at the Outer Banks,  NC & Sea Island, GA).  There are many other lessons learned but these are just a few.....

This trip we learned that we don't like to vacation by ourselves as much as we do with someone else.  We don't mind a couple of days of aloness... but then we want the kids to hang out with other kids... we want to hang out with other adults!  We realized that we had never vacationed totally alone.  We always went to families houses, beach with other friends, and camping with other friends.  We love being together as a couple alone but with kids it is way more fun to have friends... Lessons learned.

We did have an amazing time though and felt so excited to share our love of travel with our kids....  Here are the pictures of us getting to Koh Pu!  We stayed at www.pimanpu.net for the first three days of our trip.  Amazing!  Service was wonderful.  We had a cook and helper with us the whole time.  We had Thai massage in the private Sala, ate amazing food cooked specifically for our family, went island hopping, snorkeled, went running in the jungle, enjoyed crazy wildlife (think 50 monkey's in the road on my run), took long walks on the basically deserted beaches, celebrated M's birthday, enjoyed the locals, read a lot, searched for sea shells, and majorly relaxed!

Market the cook stopped at on our way to the island.

M & G in the car on the way to the boat....

Really had a hard time breathing the whole ride... NO SEAT BELTS!!  At least ME was able to sleep.

This is what A was looking at :)

You want us to walk down this?!

Don't mind me... just picking my toes.

Awesome boat man... took us to our island and then took us island hopping a couple of days later.

This is Koh Pu!

Ahhh paradise :)

  1. My grandchildren are getting such a great education. Where else could they experience so much cultural diversity!
